Hospital and hospice services

View Hospital and Hospice services

There are two main hospitals in Cheshire East – Macclesfield District General Hospital and Leighton Hospital.

Macclesfield Hospital

The children’s outpatients’ service is delivered from a child friendly and welcoming department. Children are seen by consultant paediatricians who work as part of a team of professionals including experienced children’s nurses, play specialists, allied practitioners, support workers and clerical staff.

Apart from general paediatric clinics, there are various other speciality clinics with visiting consultants from tertiary centres, phlebotomy (blood testing) clinics and specialist immunisation services. All of the specialist services are based at Macclesfield Hospital on the Children’s Ward. There is also a quieter, separate area with toys, books and DVDs just for younger patients in the Accident and Emergency Department.

Macclesfield Hospital holds several awards for their outstanding care of people with autism. See the open to Autism page on the NHS website

Leighton Hospital

Krishnan Chandran Children's Centre  is a friendly dedicated Children's Outpatient Department, which sees children from 1 day old to 19 years of ageGeneral Paediatric Clinics are held here and there are a number of specialist clinics running within the Department from visiting consultants from both Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, as well as in-house specialist clinics such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis and immunisations.
