Recycling Bank Sites

Recycling banks are located at various points across Cheshire East where you can recycle a wide range of materials. They can be found in areas such as local car parks, supermarket car parks or at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. We have launched a pilot scheme so you can now recycle small electrical items.

When using the banks please do not leave bags of recyclable materials around the banks (particularly if the banks are not full!)  If the banks are full please take your materials home and return at a later date. Any materials left by the banks may not be recycled and may be dispersed in bad weather.

Where can I find my nearest recycling bank

You can search for your nearest recycling bank site on the Recycle Now website.

Changes to Recycling Banks

Cheshire East Council has recently implemented a new silver bin recycling scheme across the borough and now collects 3,000 tonnes per month via this scheme. The success of this new recycling scheme has resulted in a reduction in the amount of recycling received at recycle banks, currently 110 tonnes per month. Consequently, there has been a review of inefficient recycling banks across Cheshire East, resulting in the following changes:

  • the removal of banks collecting items than can be recycled at home in the silver bin
  • retention of banks collecting items that cannot be recycled at home e.g clothing, shoes, books

These changes will result in financial savings for council tax payers, while maintaining the range of goods that can be recycled in Cheshire East. Banks removed from car parks will also give the added benefit of releasing much needed car parking spaces.

Please note - there will be no changes at Household Waste Recycling Centres where the full range of banks are available.

Waste and recycling is now provided by Ansa - a company owned by Cheshire East Council
