The original plans for a commercial leisure-led, mixed-use development on the cleared site next to the bus station and car park were cancelled in late 2023.

Since then, the council has been exploring plans for ‘meanwhile’ uses, as well as longer-term development options.

The council expects to make an announcement about visual improvements and  ‘meanwhile’ uses by March 2025, but is planning to implement changes over Spring and Summer 2025.
