Car parks in Cheshire East

On 2 December 2024, new changes will go live at our car parks.

  • Parking charges will come into effect at most of our car parks where parking is currently free.
  • Most car parks will become ‘cash-free’, meaning payment will be by debit or credit card at pay and display machines, or via the RingGo app. But, at least one car park in every town will continue to accept cash payments.
  • Our residents off-street parking permit scheme has been extended to cover more areas.
  • There are no changes for blue badge holders

Warning about scam impacting car park users

  • Stay safe from QR code scams by using our parking app provider RingGo who do not use QR codes.
  • We have been advised of incidents of QR codes being sent via text message or email, urging people to scan them. Once scanned these codes lead to fraudulent websites.
  • To prevent any problems, download the official app from the App Store or Google Play only.

Do not respond to any text about a parking ticket. We will never send you a text message to request payment for a parking ticket.

Our Civil Enforcement Officers issue penalty charge notices on the spot, or you may receive a penalty charge notice by post. The text says a penalty charge notice was issued by a local council and provides a link for online payment. It asks for immediate payment and threatens prosecution if the fine is not paid.

If you receive a scam text or WhatsApp

  • delete the message
  • don't click on any payment link
  • don't give any personal information
  • you can report it by visiting the Action Fraud website or by ringing 0300 123 2040
