Parking contraventions and codes
Our parking regulations help keep car parks safe and roads and stop people blocking others from parking. You may get a penalty charge notice if you contravene parking regulations.
Important information about officer waiting time
The officer waiting time shown in the tables is the amount of time an officer will normally wait before issuing a penalty charge notice. During this time they will check to see if the vehicle is definitely in contravention of the regulations. But if they consider the parking is dangerous, they can issue an 'instant ticket' (where this is within the law). You can
pay a penalty charge notice online or by phone.

Dropped kerb contraventions
You should not park on any dropped kerb unless you are parking on a residential kerb with the owner's permission. This is because Any parking on a dropped kerb is likely to cause a problem and may be dangerous.
We deal differently with parking contraventions on the different types of dropped kerb/footway.
Parking on residential driveway dropped kerbs
Our Civil Enforcement Officers will only issue a penalty notice for parking that obstructs a driveway drop kerb where we get a complaint from the owner of the driveway.
You can report people obstructing your driveway drop kerb to our parking services team on 0300 123 5020.
Parking on dropped kerbs for pedestrians to cross
Parking in a way that obstructs the drop kerb for a pedestrian crossing is dangerous for the people using the road. Our officers will issue a penalty notice whenever they see a car parked in this way.
Contravention code and description - The contravention codes and descriptions are the national standard form to be adopted by all Local Authorities assuming Civil Enforcement powers under TMA 2004.
