Cheshire East Council teams up to achieve one goal – recruit the next generation of foster carers

18 July 2023

To coincide with the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament, Cheshire East Council is teaming up with local authorities across England, with the aim of achieving one goal – to recruit a new generation of foster carers.

25 local council fostering teams have reformed Local Councils United – a virtual league with each team showcasing their football inspired films to cheer on the benefits of fostering for your local council.

As the nation follows the progress of the England Lionesses, local councils take pride in their foster carers and the children and young people they inspire, encourage and coach on a daily basis to be the very best they can be.

Football players, carers, young people, and staff are all featured in the film clips which will play out each day on social media during the World Cup campaign with the hashtags #FosterGreatness and #FosterWithYourCouncil

Cllr Carol Bulman 223x280Councillor Carol Bulman, chair of children and families committee, said: “We are all extremely proud of our fostering community in Cheshire East and the 120 foster families who play such a vital role in supporting the children and young people they care for to achieve their goals.

“Fostering is a rewarding experience that can change the life of a child and our dedicated foster carers provide a safe and stable home for children who are unable to live with their own families. They offer love, support, and guidance, and help children to reach their full potential.

“Our foster carers are our greatest support network, and we want more people like them, to step up, join our team and do something beyond greatness.”

Cheshire East Council will be featured on Day 18 of the Women’s World Cup campaign on Sunday 6 August – and the video can be found on the fostering Facebook page or on the council’s YouTube channel.

Follow the social media campaign and support your local fostering team as it travels across the country from Northumberland to Hertfordshire from 20th July.
