Advanced notice of North West Crewe Package road closure

There will be a full closure of the A530 between the junctions at Smithy Lane and Flowers Lane as the next major milestone on the North West Crewe Package scheme is reached.

These works begin on Tuesday 18 April and will continue for approximately nine weeks. Full signage is already in place advising people of the closure. 

Until Monday 17 April, we will continue to have temporary two-way signals on the surrounding roads. These works will be completed and the signals removed prior to the closure of the A530 Middlewich Road.

The proposal for the duration of the closure is to reintroduce the previous diversion route, keep the speed and weight restrictions on Smithy Lane, Minshull New Road and Flowers Lane and for the signals at Flowers Lane to be manually controlled through both morning and afternoon rush hours.  

Leighton Hospital and local bus companies have been fully updated with these planned works, so that access can be maintained and the impacts of the closure are minimised.
