16-19 Bus Saver - privacy notice
What information we may collect about you
Cheshire East Council requires your name, address, phone number, email address, proof of date of birth and passport sized photo, in order to:
- Determine that you live in an eligible postcode area (a postcode within Cheshire East)
- Determine that you are of an eligible age (16-19 Years, or 18-21 for the Care Leaver Pass)
- Your name is required to be printed on your Bus Saver pass and to match with your proof of date of birth
- A passport photo is required for the pass, to enable Bus Drivers to check the pass is being used by the eligible person
- An email address is required for your application and communications regarding your applications are sent to the provided email address
- A telephone number is required to allow the administration team to make contact if there are any queries with your Bus Saver pass
- Journey data is collected, such as when the pass was used and on what bus service. This data is only associated to your customer number. Your personal details are held in a separate area of the system
- All the data detailed above is stored on the Euclid Faredeal system. It remains active for 3-years after the pass has expired, at which point it is deleted
Why we are allowed to use your information
In order for us to provide the Bus Saver scheme, Section 93 of the Transport Act 1985 provides the power for “Any local authority, or any two or more local authorities acting jointly, may establish a travel concession scheme for the provision of travel concessions on journeys on public passenger transport services”. Article 6(1(e) of the UK GDPR therefore provides the lawful basis to process your personal data as it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.
Who we share your information with
Your information will be accessible by staff working for Ansa Transport and/or Cheshire East Council involved in administering the Bus Saver scheme. It will also be accessible by employees of Euclid Limited who provide the system software.
Your information may be shared with law enforcement agencies on request. Your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties unless required by law.
Where we get your information from
We only use information provided by you when making the application through the online portal.
In the case of Care Leaver applications, these will be cross-referenced with the relevant team in Cheshire East Council simply to confirm eligibility.
How long will you keep this data for and why
We will keep your information for as long as you are an active user of the 16-19 Bus Saver. Once your eligibility lapses, your record will remain for 3-years at which point it will be deleted.
How your information will be stored
Your information will be stored on our web based ‘Faredeal’ System, provided by Euclid Limited. Data is stored on Euclid Limited’s servers in the United Kingdom.
Each user has their own login and password to access the system.
What happens if you don’t provide us with your information
You won’t be able to apply for a 16-19 Bus Saver unless you provide this information and therefore will not be able to claim discounted bus travel in Cheshire East.
You can choose to cancel your 16-19 Bus Saver pass at any time, but the physical pass must first be returned to the following address:
Environmental Hub, Cledford Lane, Middlewich, Cheshire, CW10 0JR.
Will your information be used to make automated decisions
Your rights
You have a number of rights regarding your personal data, including withdrawing your consent where we have asked for it. You can also ask for a copy of the information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
