There are 111 civil parish councils in Cheshire East. Some parish councils are split into wards.

All parish council seats were open for election. Where the number of seats exceeded the number of people standing for election to the parish council, the existing parish council could choose to appoint the candidates without an election. 

An election was held if the number of candidates was greater than the number of seats on the council.
