Selling a discounted for sale or shared equity property
You must contact the Affordable Housing Team and receive permission before you put your discounted or shared equity home on the market. It is a condition of owning a discounted property.
What happens next
- Tell us you want to sell and give us details of your property with a current RICS valuation of the open market value of the home. We will tell you what to do next.
- Once the property is on the market, the housing team have a set period of time (usually between 2 and 6 months, depending on the development) to allocate a buyer who meets eligibility criteria from received application forms. Application forms are assessed on a first come, first served basis. Viewings are at your discretion as the housing team allocate your buyer based on application and not who has or has not viewed your home.
- The property must be sold at the discounted price even if we do not find an eligible buyer during the nomination period.
Once the sale process begins and you instruct your own conveyancer, fees to the Cheshire East Council legal team will be charged. A fee will be charged even if the sale is halted for any reason by the purchaser or the vendor.
You should speak to your conveyancer regarding the fees payable to the Cheshire East Council legal team.
