Cheshire East Council Supported Employment team work intensively with disabled people with more complex needs. The team offer a quality employment service across the whole of Cheshire East to people who:

  • would like to be in a work environment, either paid or voluntary.
  • have a current adult social care needs assessment or support plan.

Supported Employment can be a great alternative to other adult social care options.

Our support stages include:

  • We will meet with you to complete a vocational profile to find out more about what you are looking for in a work placement. You can choose to be supported by someone you know well when you meet with us.
  • We will look for opportunities that we think will be a good match for you.
  • We will support you to meet with potential employers so you can find out more about the job.
  • We make sure that you have work that you can do and enjoy.
  • We negotiate reasonable adjustments with your employer to ensure that your support needs are met.
  • We will help you and your employer to identify ways for you to learn and develop your skills.
  • Our support can be ongoing if needed.

Supported Internships

Supported Internships are a structured study programme based primarily at an employer. They enable young people aged 16-24 with an active  EHCP , to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace. Supported Internships are unpaid, and last for a minimum of six months.

Employment is a key ingredient for real social inclusion. We are committed to supporting people with disabilities to gain independence through work.
