Donating to Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve

Heathland at Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve

If you are considering making a donation towards the management of Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve you may wish to donate to one of the projects outlined on this page.

Donations are often made in memory of loved ones or by visitors who enjoy their visits to the nature reserve. For many people it might be the daily dog walk or sitting on a bench to enjoying the views across the lake. Others enjoy bird watching, the summer wildflowers and butterflies or autumn walks through the woodland looking at the changing leaf colours.

Project 1 - woodland improvements for wildlife

This work will include habitat improvements within the woodland including planting ground cover within fenced compartments with the aim providing undisturbed nesting habitat for woodland birds. Funding would be used to purchase native trees and shrubs.

Project 2 - heathland management work

Help us manage our precious heathland and ensure it survives and thrives. Your funding would help us purchase heather seed, heather plugs and carry out habitat management work including removing birch seedlings and encroaching scrub.

Project 3 - wildflower meadow creation

Help fund a wildflower meadow by providing funding for ground preparation, seeding and aftercare.

Project 4 - visitor information panels

We are seeking funding to renew and update the butterfly panel and the woodland panel during 2024. Visitors value the information and illustrations on each panel from which visitors gain a better understanding of the importance of the reserve for wildlife. Your contribution would help pay for the design and manufacture of these panels.

If you would like to donate to any other country parks, reserves or trails managed by Cheshire East countryside ranger service or for more information on any of the above projects email rangers@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
