Volunteer day at Rossmill
Thursday, 6 February 2025.
Description
You are welcome to join the Bollin Valley Partnership Rangers and volunteers from BEACON as we carry out winter tasks focused around the newly planted coppice area at Rossmill.
We will be coppicing the Hazels and taking cuttings from the willows, to expand the willow bed. The willows are all traditional varieties used for basketry with names like ‘Britanny Blue’ and ‘Black Maul’. The beds will be mulched with wood chippings to help the cuttings establish.
Another task is to cut back along the main path to the lower meadow to hopefully allow us to get machinery in to do some of the wildflower meadow management that has been done by hand in recent years.
Booking in advance is essential. Please bring gardening gloves and a packed lunch. Suitable for anyone over the age of 10.
