Volunteer day at the Lymm Railway Line
Thursday, 6 November 2025.

Description
You are welcome to join the rangers and volunteers from BEACON as we carry out winter tasks focused along the linear track, the Lymm Railway Line, part of the Trans Pennine Trail.
We will be coppicing Hazel, a traditional pruning method where a tree is cut to ground level, resulting in regeneration of new stems from the base, known as the stool. Coppicing is an ancient woodland management technique utilising all the cut Hazel for things such as fencing, hedging stakes and firewood, but we use it here because of the benefits it has to wildlife and the environment.
Booking in advance is essential. Please bring gardening gloves and a packed lunch. Suitable for anyone over the age of 10.
