Flooding on roads

Use our online form to report a highway flood or drainage issue which is affecting the road network other than major trunk roads.

Highway flooding is responded to on a risk-based approach with major roads being responded to before minor roads.

During adverse weather, we may take longer to deal with minor flooding, standing water and blocked drains. Heavy rainfall and storms can overwhelm the capacity of some drainage systems, causing standing water on the surface. If the water drains away, then the gully is not blocked, it was unable to cope with the volume of water that fell during the storm.
