Applying to become an approved premise
How to apply
For a marriage or civil partnership to take place in the Cheshire East area the venue must be approved by Cheshire East Registration Service.
The approval lasts for 3 years and costs £1945.
Requirements for approval include:
- For the purpose of approval, premises are defined as “a permanently immovable structure comprising at least a room, or any boat or other vessel which is permanently moored”. Any premises outside this definition, such as the open air, a tent, marquee or any other temporary structure and most forms of transport, would not be eligible for approval.
- The premises must fulfil the following requirements as set out in Schedule 1 of the Marriages (Approved Premises) Regulations 1995 and the Civil Partnership Act 2004.
- The Premises must be regularly available to the public
- The Premises cannot be religious in nature
