Duplicate Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership Certificates
Certificates are available for births, deaths and marriages that took place in Cheshire East. If you are unsure whether the event took place in Cheshire East, order your certificate from the General Register Office, which holds all records for England and Wales.
All certificates issued are original certified documents. Certificates are exact copies of the record made by the Registrar at the time of the birth, death or marriage

Application and payment must be received by 2pm Monday to Friday. Applications received after this time or at the weekend will be processed Monday (excluding bank holidays) and will be posted or ready to collect from the Municipal Buildings, Crewe on Tuesday. If required certificates can be posted the next working day for a fee of £2. |
How to order a copy certificate

If you are applying for a civil partnership certificate, you will need to apply to General Register Office
- You must provide the details of the person on the certificate
- Death certificates are available after the death has been registered by a family member or other qualified informant.
- Inquests – if a death has been referred to the Coroner’s Office for an Inquest death certificates will be available when the Coroner has told you that they have issued the paperwork for registration.
- Newborn babies must be registered in person at the Register Office before copy certificates can be ordered.
- Adoption certificates for a person who has been legally adopted are available from General Register Office
- Still-birth certificates are available from General Register Office
- If your pregnancy ends before 24 weeks, you can get a free certificate in memory of your baby. This certificate is completely optional. Find out how to request a baby loss certificate
