Tytherington School – Consultation
Between January 14 to February 11 2021, there was a consultation to permanently increase Tytherington School’s Published Admission Number (PAN) to 240 places in years 7 – 11 from September 2023. This increase in PAN was proposed as a result of the growth in the demand for places driven by an increasing pupil population and new housing developments in the Macclesfield area.
After overwhelmingly positive feedback and following the final approval of the Regional Advisory Board, Tytherington School raised its PAN to 240 from September 2023. This represented a permanent expansion of Tytherington School by 150 places for Years 7 to 11.
The original consultation stated that there would be a second phase of Tytherington School’s growth which would involve the physical expansion of Tytherington School to accommodate the additional students. The school is now able to implement the second phase of the project:
The new building, to be called ‘The Pavilion’, is a two-storey block situated on the school site to overlook the sports pitches. The ground floor comprises a café, dedicated study and leisure spaces, changing and toilet facilities. The upper floor comprises a viewing gallery for the sports pitches and four classrooms.
The academy is required to seek approval to amend their capacity figure in the funding agreement by means of a submission to the Regional Director. Approval is also required where the school makes a significant change to its site by, for example, constructing a new building. The Regional Advisory Board require evidence that a fair and open local consultation has been undertaken.
