Driver or Passenger assistant Cheshire East Council badge

All drivers and passenger assistants who work on Cheshire East Council school transport contracts must have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure covering Adult and Child Workforce together with Adult and Child barring list clearance before a badge can be issued.

How to apply

To begin the process you need to book a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) appointment by calling 0300 123 5015Option 3. 

An advisor will take payment over the phone for the relevant application. You will be given an appointment date and time at either Macclesfield Town Hall or Delamere House in Crewe. 

What you need for the DBS appointment

When attending the appointment you will need to provide : 

  • evidence documents, this could be a passport, driving licence or utility bill dated with in the last 3 months, or see the full list of DBS acceptable documents (PDF, 186KB)
  • child safeguarding certificate *this must be dated within the last 3 years* If you haven’t already got one, you can complete one on the NSPCC website  
  • passport sized photograph  
  • relevant licence, taxi, public service vehicle etc (if you are applying to be a driver)

You will need to complete the relevant application form. To save time this needs to be completed before the appointment. 

Returning the documents  

The  DBS certificate the original must be sent by post to the following address:

All other documents can be returned to us via email at vetting@cheshireeast.gov.uk

The badge application process takes approximately 3-4 weeks once a complete application has been received.
