Book a slot: weekends, bank holidays and mobile sites
We’ve introduced a booking system for visiting our household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs) at peak times – weekends and bank holidays only. You will also need to book a slot for our mobile sites. This is to help manage people’s waiting times and the flow of traffic.
How to book
You can book a slot up to 30 days in advance through the waste portal. These slots have been worked out to maximise the number of vehicles that are able to visit the sites.
Book a slot at a household waste recycling centre
1. Register for an account or sign in
You will need to register for an account or sign into our waste portal - this is the same portal used for subscriptions to our garden waste recycling scheme. If you already have a garden waste subscription, you can use the same email address and password.
The portal is not the same as your Cheshire East Council ‘my account’, which is used for things like council tax.
Once you have registered for an account, you will need to click 'Register my property' before you can view available services.
If you are unable to access the portal online, call our customer services team on: 0300 123 5011.
2. Make your booking
Once you’ve registered and signed in, you’ll see a box on the left-hand side of the homepage that says ‘recycling centre visit’. If you can't see the box, it may be that you have not yet registered your property.
Click the ‘Book recycling centre’ tab to begin booking your slot.
From the dropdown box, you’ll need to select the HWRC you’d like to visit, the date you’d like to visit, and pick an available time slot.
You’ll then need to provide your name, email address and vehicle registration. It is important that the vehicle registration is the vehicle that you are intending to use on the day for your visit.
There is no limit on the number of visits or bookings you can make. However, you cannot book back-to-back slots and you cannot book a new slot until your original booking is either cancelled or the appointment has passed.
Visiting in a van or commercial vehicle
You can only arrive at our mobile sites in a car. If you are visiting one of our other sites and intend to use a van, commercial 4x4 or a trailer you'll need to have a household waste permit.
3. What to bring with you on the day
Once you’ve confirmed the details, you will be given a confirmation code on screen, which will also be emailed to you. You will need to provide this code when you arrive at the HWRC for your visit.
You will also need to travel in the vehicle you registered on your booking. This is because we’ll check the registration plate against your booking.
Arriving early or late
You should not arrive more than 10 minutes before your slot. So that we can manage queues and people’s waiting times, you will not be allowed to enter the site if you are late arriving.
If you need to change or cancel your booking
If you need to cancel your booking, you can use the cancellation link in your confirmation email. Alternatively, you can sign into the waste portal and cancel that way. You can then rebook another slot if you need it. It is important to cancel your booking if you can't make the visit, as this allows another person to use the slot.
