A34 West Road, Congleton - Highway improvement works

We will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A34 West Road, Congleton. The work will take place on West Road/Holmes Chapel Road from Newcastle Road Roundabout up to and including West Road Roundabout, Congleton.  

When it's happening

Works will start on Monday 24 March 2025, and will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather dependent.

We will be working weekdays from 19:00 – 06:00 to ensure that work is completed in line with the proposed schedule and to minimise disruption to residents. There will be no weekend working.

We understand that there is no right time to work in such a key location and this scheme has been carefully planned to minimise disruption.

Road closures and diversion routes

Under current Health and Safety legislation and for the safety of our workforce and members of the public a road closure from Newcastle Road Roundabout, up to and including West Road Roundabout, Congleton will be in place.

• Those who are directly impacted by these works have been informed
• The road closures are necessary to protect the safety of both members of the public and our workforce. Please respect our workers
• Emergency services are aware of the planned closure and access will be facilitated wherever possible. 
• Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained where possible and cyclists may be asked to dismount
• Local businesses remain open, and access is signed, and being facilitated for businesses and residents
• Bus companies are aware and will be operating a revised route - please check their website for more information regarding timetable changes.
• Refuse collections will not be affected.
• Delays are expected and motorists should plan journeys accordingly
