Redhouse Lane, Disley – Highway improvement works
We will be carrying out highway improvements and installing a new footway under the arched railway bridge on Redhouse Lane, Disley. The works will connect the existing footways on either side of the bridge to improve safety and facilities for pedestrians.
What is happening
We will be undertaking the following highway improvement works as part of the scheme:
- Constructing a new footway underneath the arched railway bridge to connect the existing footways on either side
- Upgrading the traffic signals and street lighting
- Resurfacing the carriageway between Duddy Road and A6, Buxton Road
- Refreshing the existing road markings
When it's happening
24-hour road closures will be in place in phases for approximately 3 weeks commencing on 3 March as detailed below:
Phase 1: Road closure in place from Mellor View to Duddy Road
Phase 2: Road closure in place from Mellor View to A6 Buxton Road
Road closures and diversion routes
Under current Health & Safety legislation and for the safety of our workforce and members of the public, it will be necessary for road closures to be in place in phases during these works.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained where possible and cyclists may be asked to dismount.
Emergency services are aware of the planned closure and access will be facilitated wherever possible.

- The road closures are necessary to protect the safety of both members of the public and our workforce. Please respect our workers
- Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained where possible and cyclists may be asked to dismount
- Local businesses remain open, and access is signed, and being facilitated for businesses and residents.
- Property access will be facilitated where safe and possible.
- Delays are expected and motorists should plan journeys accordingly
