Road markings replacement programme

From July until October, we will be undertaking a programme of road marking replacements across the borough. We will be refreshing existing markings to ensure that they are visible, clear and compliant, to help improve road safety.

When possible, we'll use a stop/go traffic management to minimise disruption whilst we undertake the works. In some cases, a full closure might be necessary, but we'll let you know beforehand with clear signage.

We cannot give you an exact date as these lining works are weather dependent and can’t be carried out during rain.

You can find the most up to date information on one.network.

In addition to this programme of works, road markings are typically replaced during larger schemes like resurfacing or patching. Small potholes will be patched and the surrounding lines restored if needed.

Where we have resurfaced a road, we will replace all the road markings as part of the treatment.

For further information, see our programme of work.

Access and parking

Road lining is made difficult if vehicles are parked on the road. Please ensure that your vehicles and those belonging to any visitors are moved from the road before the work starts to avoid disruption. If you are going away, arrange with your neighbours for your vehicle to be moved at short notice.

Local businesses will remain open as usual and access will be facilitated where safe and possible.

Diversion route

Specific signed diversions will be in place and members of the public are advised to follow this. Alternatively, a breakdown of the full diversion route can be found on one.network.

Further information

  • Emergency vehicle access will be facilitated through the closures
  • The road closures are necessary to protect the safety of both members of the public and our workforce
  • Diversion routes are in place and signed to assist in the movement of traffic while works progress
  • Local businesses remain open and access will be facilitated where possible via diversion routes
  • Delays are expected and motorists should plan journeys accordingly
  • Ensure that no vehicles are parked along the impacted roads
