Disability Relocation Grant

The Disability Relocation Grant is up to £2,000 to help disabled people with essential costs of moving to a more suitable property.

To qualify for this grant, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • the property you are moving from must not be suitable for your needs, as assessed by an Occupational Therapist
  • the property you are moving to must be better suited to your needs
  • the property you are moving from must be in Cheshire East (although the property you are moving to doesn't necessarily have to be in Cheshire East)
  • you must be unable to afford the full cost of the removal costs. This will be established using a Test of Resources (means test).

You can get help towards reasonable moving costs:

  • professional removal costs
  • disconnection and reconnection of household appliances
  • removal and reinstallation of disability equipment

Contact the Occupational Therapy service

Contact the Occupational Therapy service on 0300 123 5010 option 2 to request an assessment.

This grant is intended for people who have been assessed by an Occupational Therapist and the current home isn't suitable to adapt. Please be aware that there is a waiting list for assessments. If you already have plans to move house this is unlikely to be suitable for you as we may not be able to meet your timescales, and grants cannot be approved after you have moved.
