Volunteering in Cheshire East
View volunteering services
Anyone can volunteer, and it is a great way to:
- Meet new people and connect with your local community
- Gain experience, self-confidence and new skills
- Make a real difference to the lives of others and the community you live in.
You can also volunteer with Cheshire East Council. For instance, by helping in a local library.
Frequently asked questions
What if I only have limited time?
There are lots of local groups and organisations who would benefit from your help even if you can only spare a few hours a week. Please contact the Social Action Partnership for further information.
What if I haven't done any volunteering before and have limited experience?
Everyone has skills useful to their local area. For instance, you might be good at talking to other people, or have good knowledge of IT. Volunteering opportunities can be shaped around your interests and abilities.
Will I get training?
This all depends on the organisation or group you work with and the type of support you are asked to provide.
Can I volunteer from home?
Yes. Telephone befriending is a good example of this.
How old do I need to be?
You can be any age. Although certain roles may need you to be aged 18+ because of the type of opportunity, or for reasons to do with insurance.
Can I volunteer with family and friends?
Yes. There are less opportunities for group volunteering, but this is still possible. It might involve work around conservation, fundraising or events.
