Under the Care Act 2014 local authorities must take steps to prevent, reduce or delay the need for care and support for all local people.
To deliver this we work closely with Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations and other partners in providing services that support you and/or the people you care for in preventing your situation getting worse, and in some cases to help make your situation better. These services will support you or the people you care for to remain as independent as possible and therefore help to improve your quality of life.
Many of our services will also help you or the people you care for from reaching crisis point.
People who are a carer for a person they live with can sometimes get a Council Tax reduction (PDF, 343KB).
