CEAT support for schools since September 2020 during COVID-19
As with all teams across Cheshire East COVID-19 restrictions have created both challenges and opportunities for the Cheshire East Autism Team (CEAT) in relation to their continuing support for children and young people with autism, their families and their schools.
By working flexibly and innovatively the following was achieved during the first half term of this academic year:
- 24 online group consultations were held enabling schools to create bespoke action plans for 188 students. An additional 65 children received direct support from CEAT via a range of forums including school visits, home visits, online 1:1 sessions, telephone consultations with schools, and multi-agency meetings.
- 39 parent/carers received support through coffee mornings, 1:1 appointments or email/telephone
- 29 Family Service Workers (FSW) received training to support them in their work with families with autism
In addition to this direct work CEAT have continued to send resources to schools, to liaise with a range of agencies and to deliver online training to our schools.
