Response to the SEND Green Paper Consultation
26 October 2022
Thank you to everyone who helped us to gather views on the recent government SEND green paper consultation.
The proposals within the green paper were very significant to everyone currently engaged in the SEND infrastructure and we held workshops over the summer to ensure that all partners were briefed on the implications of the proposals.
We ran three workshops throughout May with representatives from health, social care and education, and we also asked children and young people for their views. The Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum submitted a separate response.

The Department for Education released the green paper “ SEND review: right support, right place, right time” in March this year with the consultation running until 1 July. In the proposals - the government stated they are determined to level up opportunities for all children and young people – without exception, being just as ambitious for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities ( SEND ) as for every other child.
The SEND review set out government’s proposals for a system that offers children and young people the opportunity to thrive, with access to the right support, in the right place, and at the right time, so they can fulfil their potential and lead happy, healthy and productive adult lives.
Over the coming months, the government will publish a national SEND and alternative provision improvement plan setting out in detail how they will move forward to deliver improvements. More information can be found on the website.
