HAF logo

Welcome to the Cheshire East Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. We are really pleased that you are visiting our HAF  page.

A number of local schools, holiday club providers, community and voluntary organisations work with Cheshire East Council to provide the Cheshire East HAF programme. Our aim is to give children and young people the chance to have healthy happy holidays so they can:

  • be more active
  • develop and learn
  • socialise, have fun and be happy
  • get a tasty nutritious meal
  • work together and stay safe

Children and young people will be able to take part in a variety of fun and exciting activities, including arts and crafts, sports and games, cooking and baking, performing arts, health and well-being sessions, gardening, animal care, days out and much more!

Eligibility criteria

The HAF programme is funded nationally by the Department for Education. The Cheshire East HAF programme enables children and young people who live in Cheshire East and/or attend a Cheshire East school who are in receipt of income/benefits-related free school meals to attend free activities during the main school Easter, summer and winter/Christmas holidays, where nutritional food is also provided.

If you are not in receipt of income/benefit related free school meals, limited funding is available to support children and young people who, as result of other circumstances or vulnerabilities, would benefit from attending this programme. For example, if a child has  SEND needs, or is supported by a social worker or family service worker or a looked after child. Professional referrals will also be considered.

These examples are not an exhaustive list, and the main eligibility criteria for this programme is for those children and young people who are in receipt of income/benefit related free school meals. Additionally, some clubs offer paid places alongside their HAF -funded activities. The charges may differ from club to club.
